Nursing with Norma September

Hello again friends!!

Happy spring time 😊 I’ve certainly been taking advantage of these warm days by sleeping a solid 6 hours every day in the upstairs window!

As a result, I don’t really have much to report on this month!

We have, however, seen both our first Snake bite and Paralysis Tick patients this month!

The staff have said that these emergencies seem to be occurring earlier each year- so, please be careful when you and your pets are out and about!!

I’m happy to report that both patients made a full recovery and, I for one, am very pleased to be an indoor only cat!!! I mean, I REALLY love being indoors……and I love being inside even smaller spaces…. This month I’ve successfully achieved my goal of getting into EVERY cupboard I can find- including the uniform cupboard, ā€œHarry Potterā€ cupboard, upstairs storage cupboard and I even tried to get inside the microwave!

Hamish said it was getting slightly out of hand after he accidently locked me in the hallway cupboard ha-ha.

This month also saw another change at the clinic with the tweaking of our opening hours! This has allowed for a more streamlined admission process for our surgical patients.

It also means that there are more staff around earlier in the morning to let me out of my bedroom. (AKA Cat Prison)!

Some people assume that animals don’t understand the concept of time…… but they are wrong! I know that the first human arrives at the clinic just before 7am everyday…. So, I will sit next to the clock on the desk and begin yelling to be let out at precisely 7:01am!! (Then, I go on a run around the clinic for the next 5 minutes letting everybody know that I’m hungry!!!) And I also know that our daily hospital rounds happen at 10:40am…. I have not missed a meeting yet!!!

Well, that’s all from me for now. Nurse Emily is currently trying to ā€œClicker-trainā€ me! For what purpose … I’m not quite sure yet??! But, what I do know – it involves a funny noise and LOADS of delicious treats!!! So, I had better go and find her…. just as soon as I’ve finished tearing up this super important looking document on Lauren’s desk…….

Until next time,

Norma xx
